"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life"
~Confucius
When we find our path we no longer have to search for meaning. Changing course is always an option and seeking greater fulfilment and purpose is part of the journey.
I feel grateful to be on the path that brings me joy - I have said that I see my self as an Illuminator: Shining light so my clients can see their choices and choose the path they desire.

My Story
When I'm not with my clients:
When I am not working I spend my time with family, friends, and my pet Rue. I am an avid reader and incorporate health and fitness into my daily life. I love to experience new cultures through travel, food, and music.
How I support my own mental health:
In addition to a healthy diet and exercise, I believe in the power of meditation and journaling, which are a part of my daily routine. I reach out to friends and family daily to stay connected and to get support.
Books I often recommend:
Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. The story of choice and perseverance is inspiring and consistent with my philosophical beliefs.
When Things Fall Apart and Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change by Pema Chodron. Her words are also consistent with my belief about acceptance and choice. I have Re-read all three (in addition to others) because they help keep me mindful and keep the ideas fresh.
How I discovered my purpose:
I began my journey as an MFT at a youth shelter in Los Alamitos. I began as an MFT trainee in practicum working with youth and their families in crisis, and over the span of 20 years worked my way into the Program and Clinical Director position. I remained actively committed to the shelter due to the mission and the organizational culture and found a great deal of fulfilment working with not only the youth and their families, but also the dedicated staff who changed lives on a daily basis.
Healing and selfcare:
I spend as much time as I can in my garden, playing ball with my dog (who also works with me as a therapy dog), and nurturing the many wild birds who choose to inhabit my garden. The space and tranquility of my garden bring me joy and allow me the downtime to recharge when necessary
My companion and work partner:
Currently, I have a dog named Rue. Rue chose me when I was working at the shelter. She was 4 months old and was brought in by one of the clients. They were looking for a home and she walked over to me and laid down at my feet. Since then she has been with me daily in my office. She brings comfort and joy to my clients who often greet her and spend several moments with her before they acknowledge I am in the room. She is truly my companion.
